Brodie Hofer was the only Canadian with double figures with a match-high 14 tallies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>United States claimed the bronze medal after defeating host Dominican Republic 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-23, 25-15).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Diego Gonzalez of Mexico was named as the Most Valuable Player.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The host Dominican Republic won their fifth gold medal in the history of the Women&#8217;s Pan American Volleyball Cup after beating Mexico in consecutive sets 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-14).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dominicans joined the 2005 Cuban team as the only sides in history to have finished undefeated in a cup without losing a single set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was fitting that in her retirement game their captain Prisilla Rivera shared the lead in scoring for the Dominicans with Jineiry Martinez, both with 13 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>United States defeated Canada in straight sets 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-17) in the bronze medal match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rivera also was named the Most Valuable Player of the event.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, was the site of the Senior Pan American Cup in both genders during the month of September.
