NORCECA 2024 Tour Returns with the Fifth Stop in Punta Cana

PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, October 1, 2024. – The action of the 2024 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour returns with the Fifth Stop, to be held from October 2 to 4 at Los Corales Beach in Punta Cana.

This marks the eighth consecutive year that Punta Cana hosts the most important Beach Volleyball event in the region, bringing together teams that earn significant ranking points.

During Tuesday’s preliminary meeting, the participation of 14 teams per gender was confirmed, representing thirteen member countries of the NORCECA Volleyball Confederation.

The participating countries are Canada, Costa Rica, Bermuda, Jamaica, Guatemala, Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic, Trinidad & Tobago, United States, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Cayman Islands, and Cuba. Both Canada and the host country, the Dominican Republic, will participate with two teams per gender.

Women Seek Qualification in NORCECA Beach Tour

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, June 14, 2024. – The women’s quarterfinals of the fourth stop of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour in Managua 2024 will be determined this Saturday.

In pool A, Socorro López/Lolette Rodríguez (NCA) secured three victories; they overcame Katherine Quesada/Eugenia Ramírez (CRC) 2-0 (21-15, 21-10), then defeated Megan Hands/Kayley Hamilton (BER) 2-0 (21-4, 21-14), and won by forfeit against Maryn McCoombs/Heater Thompson (CAY), who couldn’t compete due to a delayed flight. Quesada/Ramírez advanced in second place by defeating Hands/Hamilton 2-0 (21-10, 21-3).

Molly Shaw/Chloe Loreen (USA) secured their spot in the quarterfinals by winning all three of their matches; first 2-0 (21-15, 21-6) against Yulimar Alvarado/Ella Resau (NCA), then 2-0 (21-7, 21-7) against Martiza Zuniga/Danna Aguilar (GUA), and finally 2-0 (21-6, 21-10) against Dana Funes/Keiry Guzman (ESA).

On Saturday, Zúñiga/Aguilar (GUA) will face Alvarado/Resau (NCA) to determine the second team advancing to the quarterfinals, as both have one win each against El Salvador.

Marie-Alex Bélanger/Lea Monkhouse (CAN) appear unbeatable in pool C, having defeated Nicole Reinking/Heather Friesen (USA) 2-0 (21-11, 21-13) and Valeska Hernández/Nahima Silva (NCA) 2-0 (21-7, 21-7). Reinking/Friesen will face Hernández/Silva to determine the second team advancing, while Bélanger/Monkhouse will close against Nuñez/Quesada.

In pool D, Myriam Robitaille/Darby Dunn (CAN) won 2-0 (21-14, 21-11) against Sarah Penner/Melanie Valenciana (ISV) and 2-0 (21-10, 21-18) against Maria Orellana/Paola Alvarado (GUA), who overcame Kiany Araya Quesada/Aliza Aguilar (CRC) 2-1 (17-21, 21-11, 15-7).
