HAVANA, Cuba, April 22, 2024.- The second phase of the 2024 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour, hosted in the tourist city of Varadero, will feature 36 tandems, 18 in each gender, from May 2nd to 5th.
Mireya Luis, former triple Olympic volleyball champion, confirmed the information as supervisor of the event and organizer since 2011 as this attractive venue has been hosting an annual stop, and in the last seven editions at the Barceló Solymar Arenas Blancas complex.
Cuba will be represented by its two main pairs, in the women’s category Maykelín Drik-Amanda Armenteros and Kailin Garrido-Yenifer Rivera, and in the men’s category Jorge Luis Alayo-Noslen Diaz and Damián Gómez-Eblis Veranes.
The women’s duos also include Savannah Simo-Abby Van Winkle (USA-1), Hailey Harward-Kylie Kuyava-De Berg (USA-2), Britney Choon-Tsyan Selvon (Trinidad and Tobago), Mannika Charles-T’ara Austin (Virgin Islands-1), Amber Bennett-Taylor Buckner (ISV-2), Janneke Tammenga-Chelleney Soedamah (Suriname), Julibeth Payano-Crismil Paniagua (Dominican Republic), and Karla Tovar-Keiry Guzmán (El Salvador).
Also registered are Socorro López-Lolette Rodríguez (Nicaragua), Allanis Navas-María González (Puerto Rico), Abril Flores-Yeray Vidaurrazaga (Mexico-1), Atenas Gutiérrez-Susana Torres (Mexico-2), Marie-Alex Bélanger-Lea Monkhouse (Canada-1), Anna Licht-Amy Ozee (Canada-2), Natalia Girón-Paola Alvarado (Guatemala), and Ximena Núñez-Kianny Araya (Costa Rica).
The men’s teams include Evan Cory-Robert Wyatt (USA-1), James Avery Drost-Cody Caldwell (USA-2), Daneil Williams-Fabien Whitfield (Trinidad and Tobago), Garrett Bucklin-Robert Cronshaw (ISV-1), Tyler Penberthy-Bryce Mayer (ISV-2), Joshua Dwarkasing-David Pinas (Suriname-1), Gino Naarden-Keven Sporkslede (Suriname-2), and Arnaldo Torres-William Rivera (Puerto Rico).
Completing the men’s field are Christopher A. Guardado-Yoel Guardado (El Salvador), Rubén Mora-Jefferson Cascante (Nicaragua), Ricardo Galindo-Isaías Aguirre (Mexico), Arran Chambers-Steven Abrams (Canada-1), Jake MacNeil-Alexander W. Russell (Canada-2), Edgar Maldonado-Luis García (Guatemala), Daniel Villa-Jhostin Varela (Costa Rica), and Hayerling Goris-Oscar Martínez (Dominican Republic).
Alongside Mireya Luis, the NORCECA control committee includes Dominicans Eduardina Báez (Competition Director) and Cayacoa Moquete (Info and Technology), and Mexican Miguel Ramírez (Referee Coach).
The international referees appointed are Dominican Rocío Lai, Nicaraguan Arianna Argüello, and Cuban Erick Martínez.
