Six Men duos undefeated in Juan Dolio

JUAN DOLIO, Dominican Republic, May 8, 2024.- Six men´s duos went undefeated during the first day of competitions of the third stop of the 2024 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour that is being held in Juan Dolio beach, Dominican Republic.

In pool B, Christopher and Yoel Guardado of El Salvador went through the first day undefeated, beating Edgar Maldonado/Luis García of Guatemala 2-1 (16-21, 21-18, 15-9) and Dominicans Rolvin Maldonado/Alexander Wilmore 2-1 (21-17, 15-21, 15-11).

Americans Evan Cory/Robert Harrison, who won bronze last week in Varadero, defeated Rolvin Maldonado/Alexander Wilmore (DOM) 2-0 (21-11, 21-14) in their first match in pool B and then beat the Guatemalan duo Edgar Maldonado/Luis García 2- 0 (21-17, 21-13.

Varadero’s silver medalists, Cubans Jorge Alayo/Noslen Díaz who are playing in pool C, defeated Declan Van Dam/Stephen Watson (CAY) 2-0 (21-8, 21-8) and Clerique Ward/Nage Hendrickson of Saint Kitts 2-0 (21-8, 21-4).

Also in pool C, Kendall Ratter/Marc Lomeli of the U.S. Virgin Islands defeated Clerique Ward/Nage Hendrickson (SKN) 2-0 (21-10, 21-12) and Declan Van Dam/Stephen Watson (CAY) 2-0 (21-14, 21-9).

Nicaragua’s Rubén Mora/Dany López beat Daniel Dyner/Jhostin Varela from Costa Rica 2-1 (21-23, 21-16, 15-11) and Hayerling De Jesús/Oscar Martínez (DOM) 2-0 (21-16, 21-13) in pool A.

The other undefeated duo was William Rivera/Arnaldo Torres of Puerto Rico who defeated Miguel Sarabia/Gabriel Cruz (MEX) 2-1 (13-21, 21-17, 15-11) and Ethan Asimia/Joshua Dwarkasing (SUR ) 2-0 (21-7, 21-9).

Pool-play concludes on Thursday morning, followed by the Quarterfinals and the losers’ round.
