Cuba powers through to Pan Am Cup final

GATINEAU. August 13, 2022:  Cuba had a decisive 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-21) semi-final performance against Chile today at the Slush Puppie Centre in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada at the 15th Pan American Cup.

Cuba led in all skills – attacks (45-33), blocks (8-6) and strong serving gave them five aces compared with Chile’s two. Chile lost 17 points to errors compared to Cuba’s 16.

Chilean outside hitter Vicente Parraguirre led all scorers with 20 points.

Team captain Miguel Angel Lopez topped Cuba’s scoresheet with 18 points, including three aces; followed by opposite Jesus Herrera with 15.

Cuba will now play for gold on Sunday and contend for a berth at the 2023 Pan American Games, which will be held in Chile.
