Toronto, Canada. June 25, 2024: Mexico saw early success at the Women’s NORCECA U21 Continental Championship with a decisive 3-0 (25-13, 25-7, 25-15) win over US Virgin Islands.
Mexico dominated in attack (34-15) points, blocking (7-2) and aces 9-1. As well, Mexico made fewer errors (25-17).
Mexico’s Isabella Ocampo was the match top scorer with 12 points; Anna Gillens of Virgin Islands contributed nine points to the losing effort.
“I liked the match. It’s always good to start a competition with a victory and we did it today. We don’t have a lot of information on ISV, but we played well. We had a job to do for Mexico and I like the hard work from my players,” said head coach of Mexico, Luis Leon Lopez.
