Toronto, Canada. June 26, 2024: USA remained in control of Group A with another win at the NORCECA U21 Continental Championship in Toronto, Ontario.
The score was 3-0 (25-10, 25-17, 25-15) today over Puerto Rico.
USA has not dropped a set so far in the tournament and advances directly to the semifinals. Puerto Rico’s record is 2-1.
Against Puerto Rico today, it was 42-14 in attack points; 6-1 in block points and USA shut out Puerto Rico in service aces 7-0.
Middle blocker Andi Jackson had a match-high 13 points for USA.
Setter and captain Bergen Reilly said post-match: “Puerto Rico’s a good team and they proved it yesterday against Dominican, they had a really good game. We came in ready for them to be firing on all cylinders and we just executed our side but they played a really good match.”
Head coach USA, Heather Olmstead said: “I love the energy and focus we came out with at the beginning of the match. I thought we stuck to the game plan. I thought we had a lot of fun. I think we put pressure on Puerto Rico. Our offense was fantastic, and our defense did a good job at holding them to a low number.”
