PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, October 3, 2024.- Hayerlin De Jesús/Rolvin Maldonado from the Dominican Republic, Garrett Bucklin/William Clements from the U.S. Virgin Islands, Tynan Gannett/Rouzbeh Rahnavard from Canada, and Cubans Damián Gómez/Eblis Veranes advanced on Thursday to the Semifinals of the Fifth Stop of the 2024 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour, at Los Corales Beach in Punta Cana.
In Friday’s first semifinal, De Jesús/Maldonado (DOM) will face Bucklin/Clements (ISV), followed by the other semifinal between Gannett/Rahnavard (CAN) and Gómez/Veranes (CUB).
The Dominican duo De Jesús/Maldonado defeated the U.S. team of Lev Priima/David Wieczorek 2-0 (25-23, 21-17) in the quarterfinals. Likewise, Bucklin/Clements (ISV) overcame Canada’s Martin Licht/Robert Kemp 2-0 (24-22, 21-17).
The other Canadian team, Gannett/Rahnavard, won 2-0 (21-7, 21-14) against Nicaragua’s Josue Meneses/Dany López, while Cuba’s Gómez/Veranes dominated Jesario Ebanks/Stephen Watson from the Cayman Islands 2-0 (21-14, 21-14).
Position matches will be played on Friday morning, followed by the Semifinals, and in the afternoon, the bronze and gold medal matches.
