SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica, December 1, 2024. Julián Araya and Stanley Grant, alongside Valentina Molina and Sofía Vega of Costa Rica, are the champions of the III Central American Under 19 Beach Volleyball Championship held at La Sabana Metropolitan Park in San José, Costa Rica.
With a flawless performance, Araya/Grant secured Costa Rica’s second consecutive championship in the men’s division, after defeating Nicaragua’s Justin Barrios and Deyner López 2-0 (21-12, 21-14) and later triumphed over El Salvador’s Diego Barrera and Josué Alvarado 2-0 (21-10, 21-11).
Araya and Grant completed the tournament undefeated, without dropping a single set, earning the gold medal with a perfect score of eight points.
The silver medal went to Nicaragua’s Justin Barrios and Deyner López with a 3-1 record, while Guatemala’s José Guevara and Daniel Morán secured bronze with a 2-2 record.
In the women’s division, Costa Rica’s Valentina Molina and Sofía Vega faced a tough match against Nicaragua’s Yuliana Cháves and Ella Resau, winning 2-1 (19-21, 21-16, 15-8). In their second game, they cruised past Honduras’ Valery Rodríguez and Greisy Cardona 2-0 (21-8, 21-10) and later defeated El Salvador’s Daniela Vigil and Ashley Rauda 2-0 (21-16, 21-17) to clinch the Central American championship for the second consecutive time.
The silver medal went to El Salvador’s Daniela Vigil and Ashley Rauda (3-1), while Guatemala’s Maritza Zúñiga and Dulce Aguilar claimed bronze (2-2).
