COLIMA, Mexico, August 9, 2025. – Costa Rica defeated Trinidad Tobago 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21) for ninth place in the XXII Senior Women’s Pan American Volleyball Cup at the Multifunctional Auditorium of the Morelos Sports Complex in Colima, Mexico.
Costa Rica finished the event with a 1-5 win-loss record, while Trinidad and Tobago remained winless and finished 0-6.
Costa Rica held a narrow advantage in attacks (55-49), blocks (6-5), and also controlled the service line points (6-2). Costa Rica committed 31 unforced errors and Trinidad Tobago 25.

Opposite Ana Rojas led Costa Rica’s offense with 18 points, followed by Tannia Carazo with 17 and Tamara Espinoza with 14.
For Trinidad and Tobago, Channon Thompson scored 18 points, followed by Destiny Leon and Delicia Pierre, who added 13 and 10 points, respectively.
José Miguel Briceño, Costa Rica coach: “Well, in this last match against Trinidad Tobago, we were confident in our serve, and we also did well in our blocking, we played well today, although Trinidad Tobago challenged us at times in our receiving, but it was a well-contested match, and we were able to achieve our goal.”
Deon Hutchinson, Trinidad and Tobago coach: “This was definitely our best match in this Pan American Cup, we made many unforced errors that gave Costa Rica points that could have been ours also, our libero was very young and didn’t have the necessary experience for an event as demanding as this Cup, I’m satisfied with the work of my team, which gave it their all.”
