United States Finished Ninth at the Women’s U21 World Championship

August 17, 2025. – The United States finished in ninth place at the Women’s U21 World Championship, held in Indonesia, being the best team from the North, Central America, and Caribbean Zone (NORCECA) in the event. Puerto Rico finished 15th out of the 24 teams that participated in the tournament.

United States 3 – Czech Republic 0
The United States defeated the Czech Republic 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-18) to secure ninth place at the Women’s U21 World Championship. The Americans outperformed the Czechs in all statistical categories: attacks (42-36), blocks (7-3), and serves (4-3). Halle Thompson, with 13 points, was the top scorer for the United States, while Elena Hoecke added 10 points.

Puerto Rico 3 – Indonesia 2
In a thrilling match, Puerto Rico came back from a 1-2 deficit to defeat Indonesia 3-2 (26-24, 19-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-12). With this victory, Puerto Rico secured 15th place in the tournament. In another impressive performance, Chareika Carrión scored 30 points (27 attacks, 1 block, and 2 serves), while Karielys Michelle Meléndez also stood out with 22 points in the match.

Canada defeated Chile to take 17th place, while the Dominican Republic finished in 20th and Mexico ended in 23rd.
