Dominicans play text-book volleyball to stay undefeated

VALLEDUPAR, Colombia, July 4, 2022 – The Dominican Republic women’s team played volleyball by the book in defeating Bolivia in straight sets (25-12, 25-13, 25-14) to stay undefeated after three outings at the Juegos Bolivarianos.

The Dominicans showed their depth as the coach Cristian Cruz used his three setters – Camila de la Rosa, Mia Liberato and Adriana Rodriguez- and the effectiveness was the same.

Natalia Martinez led the winners with 13 points, including 4 aces, while reserve players Rodriguez and Seliann Concepción added 11 and 10, respectively. Middle blockers Estefany Rabit (8) and Alondra Tapia (7) also contributed to the balanced attack.

The Dominicans put their opponents against the ropes with their strong serves as they totaled 17 winners from the service lines, including six by Concepción and four by Rodríguez.

The Caribbean squad will be looking for the gold medal when they meet the also undefeated Colombia on Tuesday. The Colombians defeated Peru 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-23) in the second match of the day.
