Belize celebrates

Eleazar Mejía, best scorer of Belize: “Some of us were in the tournament in Copan (U19), which was different. Here we started slow, we advanced little by little and earned today’s victory. Two players couldn’t come, it would be better with them, but without them we must take the responsibility and do a better job with what we have here. I am satisfied with my performance, but we can do better. We have one match left, against Nicaragua and we will put up fight, we will come out to look for the win”.

Nicanor Requena, captain of Belize: “It feels good to win, thanks to our team’s unity. That’s what helped us win, unity and good energy as a team. The previous games were difficult, we did everything to win, we just need a bit more and today we were able to do so”.

On Sunday, Panama plays Costa Rica at 4:00 p.m. and Belize rests.
