August 15, 2025 – The United States and Canada achieved victories and continued advancing toward a better position in the Women’s U21 World Championship being held in Indonesia. Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic lost their respective matches.
United States 3 – Puerto Rico 0
The United States defeated Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-16), and this Saturday, August 16, the Americans will play for positions 9/12, while Puerto Rico will be competing for positions 13/16. The United States outperformed the Puerto Ricans in all statistics: attacks (38-32), blocks (7-5), and serves (6-3). For the United States, Halle Thompson was their best attacker with 11 points, while for Puerto Rico, outside hitter and the best Caribbean player in the entire tournament, Chareika Carrión, finished the match with 22 points.
Canada 3 – Dominican Republic 0
Canada defeated the Dominican Republic in a very close match 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-23). The victory leaves Canada playing for position 17, while the Dominicans will play to secure position 19. Canada outperformed the Queens of the Caribbean in attacks (49-25) and in blocks (6-5). The Dominicans were better in serves (7-6) but failed to take advantage of the 29 unforced errors by the Canadians. Logan King, with 19 points; Élodie Lalonde, with 15; and Claire Carter, with 13, led the Canadian attack. Shantal Rivera was the best for the Dominican Republic.
Mexico 0 – Egypt 3
Mexico lost to Egypt 0-3 (22-25, 13-25, 16-25) and will play for position 23. The Egyptians dominated all game statistics: (36-32) in attacks, (10-4) in blocks, and (9-2) in serves. Opposite hitter Andrea Ravell finished as the best Mexican player with 13 points, all in attacks.
