Canada’s U21 men sweep Chile

Calgary, Aug. 08, 2025:  Canada was successful in front of its home crowd today at the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The host team beat Chile 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-21); leading in attack points (44-26) and aces (4-3). Blocks we equal at six. Canada made more errors with 29 compared with Chile’s 21.

Luke Lodewyks and Owen Weekes each scored 13 points for Canada.

Felipe Rodríguez was Chile’s top scorer with eight points (6 kills, a block and an ace).

“They are a really strong team, and they put a lot of pressure on us, but I’m really happy that we were able to close out in three sets,” said Chris Voth, Canada’s head coach. “We know they are dangerous and have a lot of weapons. Chile has shown that throughout the tournament. So I’m really happy that we were able to do that under pressure.”

Canada wraps up the round robin tomorrow playing Mexico, while Chile plays Barbados.
