SANTURCE, Puerto Rico, January 30, 2026.– In Friday’s action of the Women’s Volleyball Superior League (LVSF), the Cangrejeras de Santurce survived a five-set battle against the Atenienses de Manatí, while the Valencianas de Juncos celebrated their first win of the season.
Santurce earned its second victory in as many outings, while Juncos finally broke into the win column on its sixth attempt.
At the Roberto Clemente Coliseum, the Cangrejeras claimed their second straight win, coming from behind against a gritty Manatí squad to prevail 3–2 (23-25, 26-24, 21-25, 25-16, 15-12) and secure two of the three points available.
The fifth set was extremely tight, with constant ties from point 1 through 12. Santurce took a 13-12 lead with a successful attack by Andrea Rangel from zone two, reached match point at 14-12 following an offensive error by Shea Rubright, and sealed the win with a powerful spike by Tamara Otene from zone four.
Santurce edged Manatí 56-55 in attacks, dominated 21-11 in blocks, led 98-79 in digs, and 15-13 in assists. The Atenienses were better in passing, 55-53, while both teams finished with four service aces.
Santurce’s offense was led by Andrea Rangel with 20 points, followed by Tamara Otene with 18, Kara McGhee with 17, and Helena Grozer with 13. For the Atenienses—who earned one point in the loss—Karla Santos led all scorers with 30 points, while Shea Rubright added 14.
Santurce improved to 2-0 with 5 points, while Manatí dropped to 2-4 with 9 points.
In the other match of the day, the Valencianas de Juncos defeated the Pinkin de Corozal in four sets at the Carmen Z. Figueroa court, with scores of 31-29, 20-25, 25-22, and 25-21.
With the win, the Valencianas collected all three available points and moved to 1-5 with 3 points, remaining in sixth and last place in the standings.
For Corozal—now suffering its second straight loss and holding a 3-2 record with 10 points—Lindsay Krause led the offense with 22 points, followed by Jordan Illif with 13, and Ivania Ortiz and Adriana Rodríguez with 12 apiece.
LVSF action continues this Saturday as the Criollas de Caguas (5-1, 13 points), league leaders, visit the Leonas de Ponce (2-3, 5 points) at the Salvador Dijols court, starting at 8:00 p.m.
