Cangrejeras take control of Section A with their second Quarterfinals victory

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, March 25, 2026. – In the continuation of the Women’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSF) Quarterfinals in Section A, the Cangrejeras de Santurce claimed their second victory by defeating the Valencianas de Juncos 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-23).

This marked the 22nd win for the Cangrejeras, combining regular season and postseason play, in a 2026 season in which they remain undefeated.

For the Valencianas, it was their first postseason match, now holding a 0-1 record. The other team in this section, Pinkin de Corozal, also stands at 0-1.

The Cangrejeras came from behind in the first set, closing it with a 9-3 run. In the second set, they reached set point at 24-20 with a block on Leandra Mangual and secured the set with a successful outside hit by Helena Grozer, taking a two-set lead.

In the third set, after the technical timeout with Santurce narrowly leading 16-15, the teams traded points with ties from 16 through 22.

The Cangrejeras sealed the match with two consecutive kills: one by Tamara Otene from the outside and another by Neira Ortiz through the middle to reach set point at 24-22. Otene then closed the set and the match 25-23 with another successful outside attack.

In team statistics, Santurce led 12-6 in blocks, 3-1 in aces, and 28-26 in receptions. Juncos held the edge in digs (54-49), attacks (43-39), and assists (12-10).

Santurce’s offense was led by Tamara Otene (13 points), Andrea Rangel (12), and Helena Grozer (10). For Juncos, Haley Bush and Leandra Mangual each scored 13 points, while Kelly Sánchez added 10.

Action in Section A continues this Friday, March 27, when the Cangrejeras de Santurce visits the Pinkin de Corozal at the legendary Carmen Z. Figueroa court at 8:00 p.m.

In Section B, the Criollas de Caguas (1-0) will host the Leonas de Ponce (1-0) at the Roger Mendoza Coliseum at 8:20 p.m. on Thursday.
