Calgary, Aug. 10, 2025: Chile won the bronze-medal match today at the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Chile defeated Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-14).
Chile was more effective on attack (39-33 points), blocks (14-7), and aces (2-1). Chile also made fewer errors (20-14).
Felipe Emilio Rodríguez (13 kills) and Joaquin Alejandro Valjalo (11 kills, 2 blocks) each contributed 13 points to the winning side.
Team captain and middle blocker Janluar Figueroa was Puerto Rico’s top scorer with 12 points.
Chile’s head coach Alvaro Del Campo Guzmán commented: “We are extremely happy and very proud of the team. It was not an easy championship for us, with only nine players. This medal is dedicated especially to Juan Pablo Espinosa, Josué Ruiz, and Rodrigo Uriiola, who could not travel. Today we played well against a great opponent like Puerto Rico. For Chile, it is very important to have this bronze medal.”
