San Salvador, El Salvador, November 14, 2025. – Costa Rica sealed their spot in the final with authority, defeating Honduras in a one-sided match 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 26-24) in the first semifinal of the XV AFECAVOL U19 Women’s Central American Championship.
With this victory, Costa Rica earns the opportunity to defend their title in the category and now awaits the winner of the matchup between Nicaragua and Guatemala.
Costa Rica maintained control throughout the match and was only challenged in the third set, where Honduras applied pressure until the final point.

Costa Rica was more consistent than Honduras in attack points (32-26) and service points (5-3), while both teams were even in blocks with four each.
In points from unforced errors, Honduras conceded 35 compared to Costa Rica’s 26.
María Vanegas led Costa Rica’s offense with 11 points, while teammate María Salas also contributed 11. For Honduras, Valeria Aquino stood out with 8 points.
Following the victory, Costa Rica’s top scorer María Vanegas said, “We worked hard before this event, and we have fought in every match; thank God we achieved this qualification to the final. Against Honduras we had to stay very focused, there was a moment when we were behind, but thanks to God we were able to take advantage of the opportunities the opponent gave us. Now we must maintain a positive mindset for the final.”
Meanwhile, Honduras’ top scorer Valeria Aquino stated, “We fought from the beginning to achieve victory against Costa Rica, but we couldn’t get the result. I know all my teammates gave their all on the court; now we must focus on our next match. We are going to fight with everything, we want to reach the podium.”
