Costa Rica will face Barbados on Thursday at 6:00 p.m., and Nicaragua will play Puerto Rico at 8:00 p.m.
Walter Jenkins, Costa Rica head coach: “After watching Nicaragua’s first match, we didn’t know what to expect because they played well against Barbados, but we came in with faith in God, asking Him for calmness and the tools to handle the aspects of the game that are sometimes out of our hands. I think we played a good match today; the boys did things very well, and it’s all part of the growth process.”
Jorge Mena, Nicaragua head coach: “We’re in a category that is just getting started and the boys are new; nerves play a role, and they’ve never competed at this level. Honestly, we didn’t expect such a low result; we thought we would play better and put up more of a fight. In this age category, being the home team adds pressure from the crowd and parents, and it’s normal for them to feel that way because they lack experience. But it helps us improve and gain experience for the future.”
