JALAPA, Guatemala, October 27, 2025.– Costa Rica against El Salvador and Nicaragua alongside Guatemala will be the women’s beach volleyball semifinal matchups at the XII Central American Games Guatemala 2025, scheduled to begin this Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at the Jalapa Sports Complex.
The day will open with Marcela Araya and Eugenia Ramírez of Costa Rica taking on Karla Tovar and Daniela Vigil of El Salvador. In the second semifinal, Socorro López and Lolette Rodríguez of Nicaragua will face the host duo, Paola Alvarado and Laura Quiñónez of Guatemala.

Costa Rica’s Ramírez/Araya finished first in the preliminary round with a perfect 6-0 record, without dropping a single set. In their final match of the phase, they defeated López/Rodríguez of Nicaragua 2-0 (21-16, 21-15) in a contest where their offensive consistency made the difference. Araya’s powerful attacks and Ramírez’s strong serves led Costa Rica to victory and a direct spot in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Tovar/Vigil of El Salvador advanced to the semifinals after defeating Shanna Rivera and Reizel Bruhier of Honduras 2-0 (21-17, 21-9), in a rematch after losing to them earlier in the preliminary round 0-2 (16-21, 20-22). El Salvador displayed a more balanced and forceful game, with Tovar sealing the win with an unstoppable kill.

The Nicaraguan duo López/Rodríguez had to give their all to overcome Ingrid Lezcano and Krisleen González of Panama in a thrilling three-set battle, 2-1 (21-19, 19-21, 15-9). After a close first set and a second in which Panama forced the tiebreak with an ace from González, Nicaragua responded strongly in the third to secure their spot in the semifinals.
The home team Alvarado/Quiñónez dominated their qualifying match against Clara Sabal and Aaliyah Pilgrim of Belize, winning 2-0 (21-8, 21-12). Guatemala showed a solid and effective performance, especially in the first set, while the Belizean duo improved their defense in the second. Earlier in the day, Guatemala also defeated González/Wilson of Panama 2-0 (21-8, 21-14), finishing second in the preliminary round standings.
