Criollas Dominate Section B and Advance as Top Seed to the LVSF Semifinals

PONCE, Puerto Rico, April 1, 2026. – Section B of the Quarterfinals concluded with the defending champions, the Criollas de Caguas, finishing in first place in the Puerto Rico Women’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSF) after defeating the Leonas de Ponce on Wednesday night 3-2 (20-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-11).

With the victory, the Criollas de Caguas closed the quarterfinal phase with a 3-1 record, while Ponce finished 2-2. Both teams will meet again in the semifinals, a best-of-seven series in which the first team to reach four wins advances to the final.

In this section, the Atenienses de Manatí were eliminated from the postseason after finishing with a 1-3 record.

In the deciding set, the Criollas rallied with a 5-0 run, capped by an ace from Andrea Serra that gave them a narrow 9-8 lead. The score was tied at 9, but Caguas pulled away again with a 3-0 rally sparked by a successful attack from Mylei Vargas from zone four and two offensive errors by Ponce: one by Stephanie Enright from zone four and another by Kristin Lux from zone two, making it 12-9 and never looking back.

Caguas reached match point 14-10 with another successful spike by Vargas and closed the match 15-11 with a decisive attack by Diana Trujillo from zone four.

In this match, the Leonas rested their reinforcement Sherridan Atkinson, while the Criollas did the same with Jenaisya Moore, Okiana Valle, Génesis Collazo and Diana Reyes.

Caguas’ offense was led by Mylei Vargas (15) and Andrea Serra (13). For Ponce, Nataly García led all scorers with 22 points, followed by Kristin Lux (20), Stephanie Enright (14) and Abby Akey (12).

Section A concludes this Thursday, April 2, when the Valencianas de Juncos visit the Pinkin de Corozal at 8:00 p.m. In this section, the Cangrejeras de Santurce and the Valencianas have already secured their spots in the semifinals.
