Criollas dominate the fifth set and prevail in Corozal

COROZAL, Puerto Rico, January 24, 2026.– In the only match on the Women’s Volleyball Superior League (LVSF) schedule held at the Carmen Z. Figueroa court, the visiting Criollas de Caguas defeated the Pinkin de Corozal in five sets, 3-2 (25-23, 15-25, 25-18, 24-26, 15-3).

With the victory, both teams split the available points from the match. The Criollas earned two points to improve their record to 4-1 and moved into first place with 10 accumulated points, a position they now share with the Pinkin, who added one point and stand at 3-1 with 10 points.

With the match tied at two sets apiece and the fifth set even at 1-1, the Criollas went on “automatic pilot,” unleashing a 10-0 run that began with a middle attack error by Dayan Malavé and was capped by two cross-court kills from Alexandra Sczech out of zone two.

Caguas reached set point at 14-3 following an attack error by Jordan Illiff and sealed the set and the victory with a service ace by Jangeliz Ramírez.

Caguas’ offense was well balanced, led by Jenaisya Moore with 19 points, followed by Alexandra Sczech with 14, Stephanie Enright with 13, and Alba Hernández with 10.

For Corozal, Lindsay Krause was the top scorer with 34 points, supported by Adriana Rodríguez with 13 and Illiff with 11.

In team statistics, Caguas held a 14-8 advantage in blocks. The Pinkin led in attacks (63-54), service aces (4-2), digs (99-98), receptions (54-32), and assists (17-16).

LVSF action continues this Sunday, January 25, when the Leonas de Ponce visit the Valencianas de Juncos at the Rafael G. Amalbert court starting at 7:00 p.m.
