ADELAIDE, Australia, November 18, 2025.- Cuba’s Noslen Diaz & Jorge Alayo and Chaim Schalk & James Shaw of the United States are two of the first eight eighthfinalists of the men’s FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship in Adelaide.

Ninth-seeded Chaim Schalk & James Shaw of the United States took three sets to win their sixteenthfinal against 11th-seeded Tomas Capogrosso & Nicolas Capogrosso of Argentina on Tuesday. Schalk spearheaded the winners with 24 points towards a 2-1 (13-21, 22-20, 15-11) comeback victory. Shaw put away four kill blocks and two aces to finish with 22 points. Nicolas led the Capogrosso brothers with 23.
The Americans’ next opponents also emerged from a tie-breaker duel. Cuba’s Noslen Diaz & Jorge Alayo, seeded sixth, claimed a 2-1 (21-18, 19-21, 15-12) win over another American pair, Miles Partain & Andrew Benesh, with Alayo and Benesh sharing the top scorer honors with 25 points each.
American Olympians Miles Evans & Chase Budinger fell to Portugal’s Joao Pedrosa & Hugo Campos, who achieved a 2-0 (21-16, 21-19) sixteenthfinal win.
Sixteenthfinal action continues with the other eight matches on Wednesday, starting at 13:30 local time (03:00 UTC).
