De la Cruz and Valentin Honored in AUPV

The former captains of the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico national teams were honored at the conclusion of the 2025 AU Pro Volleyball season, which ended this past weekend.

The 2025 season of the league, which rewards individual player performance, began in Omaha, Nebraska, and continued in Madison, Wisconsin.

At the season’s close, Bethania De la Cruz Mejía was recognized with the Impact Player award for her performance both on and off the court. The member of the Dominican Republic’s “Queens of the Caribbean” team, which will compete in the 2024 Olympic Games, played her third season in AU Pro Volleyball.

“Through volleyball, I’ve learned that leading isn’t about commanding, but about serving,” the star attacker stated.

Meanwhile, former Puerto Rican team captain Natalia Valentín, who has played all four seasons of the league, reached her 2,000th assist over the weekend, becoming the first player to achieve this milestone.

AU Pro Volleyball recognized Jordan Thompson as the 2025 Player of the Year.
