SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, August 31 2022 – Five-time Pan American Cup champions Dominican Republic will be seeking it’s second Final Sx crown in as many editions when they start playing next Sunday at the Volleyball National Palace in Santo Domingo.
The inaugural event was high-lighted in 2021 by the retirement of long time Dominican star Prisilla Rivera after 20 years of action with the national squad.
The first Pan American Cup won by the Queens of the Caribbean was achieved in 2008 in Mexicali, Mexico under the wheel of Dominican coach Miguel Beato Cruz. Then the 4 others were attained – in 2010, 2014, 2016 and 2022 following the instructions of Brazilian Marcos Kwiek.
Thousands of spectators are expected in the Santo Domingo venue, which has been renovated with air conditioner for the comfort of the high temperatures the country is enduring at this time.
The other teams competing are United States, Canada, Mexico, Cuba and Puerto Rico.
