SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, November 14, 2025. – El Salvador managed to handle the pressure better at crucial moments to defeat Belize in five tight sets, 3-2 (25-22, 25-22, 24-26, 19-25, 15-8). The hard-fought victory delivered their first win of the tournament, securing fifth place at the XV AFECAVOL U19 Women’s Central American Championship.
Belize, meanwhile, closed the competition without a single victory in their three matches, finishing in sixth place in the final standings.
Belize was hurt by the points conceded through unforced errors, handing over 48 points, many of them on serves that fell into the net. El Salvador, on the other hand, handed out 36 points in unforced errors.

The Belizean team performed better in attack points (53-49), blocks (5-3), and serves (9-8), but the high number of unforced errors prevented them from securing the win.
For El Salvador, three players reached double figures in scoring, which was key to the victory: María Ramírez with 15 points, Katya Cunza with 14, and Evelyn Ramírez with 11.
For Belize, Emaun Marín stood out with 20 attack points, followed by Jamielee Espejo with 11.
After the win, El Salvador’s Valeria Ayala stated, “We trained a lot for this event; many of us come from previous national team processes, but not with a strong foundation. This event will help us improve that foundation for future national teams. We didn’t get the results we expected, but everything is part of the process. We know we have a great future, and we will work hard to reach it.”
Meanwhile, Jaycee Usher of Belize added, “I feel that our participation in this event could have been better. We fought in every match to achieve victory; everyone on the team gave their best in each game, especially in this one against El Salvador. We take this experience with us, and for future events, we will do better. We will come back stronger.”
