FIVB and ISF unite to discuss future of youth volleyball

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, March 30, 2026.- The FIVB welcomed the International School Sport Federation (ISF) to the Volleyball House in Lausanne last week for a collaborative meeting focused on the future of youth and grassroots volleyball worldwide.

The FIVB delegation was led by President Fabio Azevedo and the ISF delegation was led by President Mr Željko Tanasković, a former Serbian international volleyball player whose decorated career includes an Olympic bronze and World Championship silver medals, alongside bronze medals at two European Championships and the 1996 World Cup.

During the meeting, the FIVB delegation presented the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032 – an ambitious roadmap to elevate volleyball’s global impact over the next eight years. With grassroots volleyball and empowerment key focuses of the vision, the meeting provided a clear platform to explore how school sport can contribute to growing volleyball at every level across the Global Volleyball Movement.

Schools are often where a lifelong love of volleyball begins and both organisations share a commitment to ensuring sport is a tool for empowerment and unity among young people. The meeting’s discussions touched on potential collaboration in school sport programmes, with the aim of giving more young people access to volleyball and the opportunities it can create through development and education.
