FIVB Coaches Commission highlights 2026 strategic priorities and reinforces central role of coaches

January 29, 2026.- The FIVB Coaches Commission met recently to review key regulatory proposals and strategic priorities for 2026, reaffirming the central role of coaches in the global development of volleyball.

The meeting opened with remarks from FIVB President Fabio Azevedo, followed by an address from Commission President Giovanni Guidetti, who thanked members for their cooperation and active engagement, and highlighted the strong and continuous support provided by the FIVB to the Commission.

Guidetti stated; “Coaches are at the heart of volleyball. They empower athletes, help to create communities and inspire the next generation – qualities essential for the future success and positive power of volleyball worldwide. Coaches themselves also need to feel empowered, and that is part of our responsibility. I am grateful for all the work of this Commission in making sure their priorities are heard, and that we continue to provide opportunities for their growth and success.”

During the meeting, members received an overview of tests conducted in 2025 by the Rules of the Game and Refereeing Commission, including the interpretation of double contact in volleyball and beach volleyball, and the out-of-rotation error in volleyball. Proposals arising from these tests were presented and discussed, with a focus on their practical impact on teams and coaching strategies.

A wide range of discussion points followed, covering commission proposals related to the VNL, Continental Championships 2026 and aspects of the World Championships schedule. Updates were also shared on volleyball and beach volleyball matters, alongside legal updates and preparations linked to LA28.

The Commission also addressed the development and promotion of female coaches, as also outlined in the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032, reaffirming the FIVB’s commitment to inclusion, opportunity and long-term capacity building within the coaching community.

The meeting concluded with closing remarks from Guidetti, followed by final comments from FIVB President Fabio Azevedo, who thanked members for their contributions and ongoing commitment to strengthening coaching and advancing volleyball worldwide.
