ADELAIDE, Australia, November 20, 2025.- Five teams from NORCECA advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2025 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship in Adelaide, Australia.
Americans Chaim Schalk and James Shaw upset Cuban Olympians Jorge Alayo and Noslen Díaz on their way to the men’s quarterfinals. The Americans won two close sets 2-0 (21-19, 22-20) to earn their fourth-straight victory and eliminate Alayo and Díaz.
In the quarterfinals, scheduled for Friday, at 13:30 local time (3:00 UTC), the Americans will face young Swedish Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson.

Donlin & Denaburg earned their spot in the quarterfinals after Reigning Olympic champions Ana Patricia Ramos & Eduarda Lisboa (Duda) withdrew from the competition. The official message from the Brazilian federation cited medical reasons but did not specify which of the two players will need additional tests to be conducted upon their return to Brazil.
Third-seeded Nuss & Brasher came back from a set down to mount a 2-1 (20-22, 21-19, 15-6) victory over the two-time Dutch Olympians, Katja Stam & Raisa Schoon. Brasher topped the match chart with 27 points, including three kill blocks. Nuss chipped in with another 19 points, featuring one kill block and an ace. Stam was her team’s most prolific scorer with 25 points under her belt.
Canadian Olympic medalists Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson continue to progress unharmed at the 2025 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship in Australia.
On Thursday, they secured their fifth-straight two-set victory in the tournament held in Adelaide, beating Spanish Olympians Daniela Álvarez and Tania Moreno 2-0 (21-15, 21-11) in the Round of 16, and get to the quarterfinals with their record perfectly clean.
Defending champion Kelly Cheng of the United States and her new partner Molly Shaw will face Latvian Olympians Tina Graudina and Anastasia Samoilova. Shaw & Cheng had a smooth Round of 16 victory, taking Czechs Kylie Neuschaeferova and Martina Maixnerova down 2-0 (21-13, 21-10) to move into the quarterfinals with four wins and a loss.
