Honduras marches firmly in the U15 Central American Girl’s Volleyball Championship

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, December 10, 2025.- Honduras prevailed over Belize to claim its second win without defeat, while Guatemala earned its first victory against El Salvador on the second day of competition at the U15 Central American Girl’s Invitational Championship, authorized by AFECAVOL.

Honduras showcased its potential by securing its second victory, after defeating Belize 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-18, 25-16).

Luna Janania was key in Honduras’ offense, scoring 26 points, while teammate Elizabeth Castejón also stood out with 19 points. For Belize, Chloe Bowman finished with 13 points, and Jamaya Dougal contributed 10.

Honduras took advantage of its stronger attack, leading 43-31, and edged Belize in service points 12-11. Both teams finished tied in blocks, 5-5. Belize committed 37 unforced errors, compared to 35 by Honduras.

Honduras’ captain Luna Janania said after the match: “We’re all focused. Today we played very well as a team, and above all, we made our maximum effort to achieve the victory. We lost a set, but we never stopped fighting, and that was key to this win”.

After losing its opening match, Guatemala earned a revitalizing victory over El Salvador, winning 3-0 (25-22, 25-11, 25-12).

With this result, Guatemala now stands at 1-1, while El Salvador has two losses and no wins.

The Guatemalan team controlled the match, outperforming El Salvador in attack points 32-18, service points 15-3, and blocks 2-1. They also remained calmer in high-pressure moments, committing 23 unforced errors against 26 by El Salvador.

Alejandra Papa led Guatemala’s offense with 19 points, while for El Salvador, Nataly Ayala was the top scorer with 5.

After the match, Guatemala’s captain Mia Sopegno stated: “This is a very important victory for us. We’re excited, and we gave everything in this match to secure the win. We worked as a team and executed our strategy well, but above all, we played with better attitude.”
