SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, October 1, 2024. – With the participation of 23 coaches representing Belize, Costa Rica, Cuba, the United States, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic, a Level 2 International Volleyball Coaches Course was inaugurated at the NORCECA-FIVB Regional Development Center.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Amos Anglade, Technical Vice President, accompanied by José Francisco Fernández, Treasurer of the Dominican Volleyball Federation, Mr. Franklin De La Mota, Deputy Minister of Sports, Bernardo Mesa, Technical Director of Centro Caribe Sports, Francisco Hervas, course director assigned by the FIVB, and lecturers Wilson Sánchez and Enrique Pacheco.
Mr. Amos Anglade welcomed all participants, encouraging them to apply the knowledge they will acquire during the course to benefit their national federations and ensure the development of volleyball.
Deputy Minister Franklin De La Mota expressed that the Development Center is considered one of the best in the country and worldwide for training, thanks to the excellent work of the Center’s Director, Prof. Nelson José Ramírez, and that the Ministry of Sports, led by Minister Kelvin Cruz, fully supports the Center’s continued success in training programs.
FIVB Instructor Francisco Hervas from Spain acknowledged the high quality of the Development Center in Santo Domingo, therefore the FIVB appoints experienced instructors. He added that the five days of training will feature speakers presenting the latest advancements in modern volleyball coaching.
To close the ceremony, Prof. Nelson José Ramírez expressed great satisfaction with the participation of coaches from various countries, which will strengthen volleyball within the NORCECA Confederation. He also thanked NORCECA President Mr. Cristóbal Marte for his ongoing support of the development programs through the Regional Development Center.
The course will last five days, with both theoretical and practical classes, and takes place at the National Training Center located in the Volleyball Pavilion of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.
