MANAGUA, Nicaragua, December 1, 2025.– With seven gold medals and one bronze in their eight appearances across the ten stops of the 2025 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour, María González and Allanis Navas have asserted their continental dominance, breaking the long-standing hold of teams from the United States, Mexico, and Canada. They are Puerto Rico’s new warriors, continuing to make history.
“It’s a dream. We step onto the court never underestimating any opponent; we step in as warriors, ready to win from the very first point, no matter who is on the other side,” said María González, a specialist in blocking and finishing points with power.
For González, the key to their success lies in the connection they share both on and off the sand. “We trust each other so much. We always say, ‘Let God’s will be done,’ and we give our absolute best. That trust shows, as well as our chemistry, which is very important for us.”
Regarding the match against Mexico’s Susana Torres and Atenas Gutiérrez, in the pool play of the 10th Tour Stop that concluded last Sunday, she recalled a difficult moment in the tournament: “I injured a finger and could barely finish that match, but we bounced back and managed to close the tournament with a gold-medal finish”.
Her teammate Allanis Navas expressed deep satisfaction with their season. “Above everything, what we feel is gratitude—to God, to our coach, and to our entire support team. We’re very happy with our results. It’s been many days under the sun, long nights, and hard work. This victory means a lot to us and motivates us to keep preparing as we chase our dream: the Olympic Games.”
Navas highlighted that both are only 23 years old. “We’re still young, and with God’s favor, if He keeps us healthy and injury-free, we’ll continue representing Puerto Rico the way it deserves.”
She also emphasized the fighting spirit of her country. “All Puerto Ricans step onto the court like warriors. That attitude and that grit come from who we are. We feel blessed to travel and represent Puerto Rico around the world with great pride.”
Before closing the year, the duo still has major goals ahead. “We have the 2025 Tour Finals in Juan Dolio in December, but before that, we’ll compete at the Elite16 Beach Pro Tour in Brazil. Then we’ll focus on the NORCECA Finals. We’ll keep preparing, always looking to earn more points,” Navas concluded.
