Men’s Playoff Bracket at Adelaide 2025 Takes Shape, Featuring Five NORCECA Duos

ADELAIDE, Australia, November 17, 2025. – The first phase of the men’s FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship in Australia concluded on Monday after four days of competition. The 24 teams that finished first or second in their pools booked direct spots in the round of 32 (sixteenthfinals), along with the four best-ranked third-place teams, including five representatives from NORCECA.

Cuba’s Noslen Díaz/Jorge Luis Alayo topped Pool F, while three American duos advanced from their groups: with Chaim Schalk/James Shaw winning Pool I after a decisive three-set victory over their compatriots, while Miles Evans/Chase Budinger secured second place in the same group despite the loss, finishing with a 2-1 record and the best point ratio. In Pool H, Miles Partain/Andrew Benesh advanced as third place.

Canada’s Samuel Schachter/Jonathan Pickett also stayed alive in the tournament thanks to their first win in Adelaide, a solid 2-0 (21-14, 21-16) victory over Mozambique’s Jose Mondlane/Osvaldo Mungoi.

The remaining eight third-place teams were placed into Tuesday’s lucky loser round (round of 36), where they will battle for the four final spots in the round of 32. The 12 teams that finished at the bottom of their pools have been eliminated.

The first men’s playoff match on Tuesday will begin at 13:30 local time (03:00 UTC).

In the round of 36, Canada’s Samuel Schachter/Jonathan Pickett will face the Dutch duo Penninga/Immers.
