GATINEAU, August 13, 2022: Dominican Republic was defeated by Mexico 1-3 (14-25, 29-27, 18-25, 15-25) today at the 15th Pan American Cup at the Slush Puppie Centre in Quebec, Canada.
Mexico earned its way into the fifth-place match and they will meet Puerto Rico at 11:30 am ET on Sunday. Brazil and Dominican Republic play at 9 am ET for places seven and eight.
This afternoon, Mexico led in attack points (53-37) and serves (8-7) and made 10 fewer errors than its opponent. Puerto Rico gained one more blocking point than Mexico (9-8)
Dominican opposite Henry Omar Tapia led scoring with 18 points.
Outside hitter Mauro Isaac Fuentes of Mexico led the winning side with 17 points, followed by teammate Josue De Jesus Lopez with 14 points to his credit.
The schedule continues with semis today and medal matches on Sunday afternoon.
