Calgary, Aug. 07, 2025: Mexico proved too powerful on attack for Barbados to handle today at the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
The final score was Mexico 3, Barbados 0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-17).
Mexico dominated the attack stats, 45-21, and led in blocks 5-4 and aces 4-3. Mexico also made fewer errors 19-23.
It was Mexico’s first win of the tournament after a five-set defeat against Puerto Rico and a 3-0 loss to Chile.
Erick Eduardo Hernández, Mexico’s head coach, said: “We are very happy to have earned the victory in this match. I think it was important for the boys to start building confidence. We hope they continue performing well in the upcoming matches and give their all on the court to make Mexico proud.”
Mexico’s Brandon Antonio Ramirez led all scoring with 15 points (14 kills and an ace).
Opposite Isaiah Francis of Barbados was his team’s top producer with 9 total.
