Mexico City, December 9, 2025. The Mexican Volleyball Federation (FMVB) officially launched the first season of the Liga de Voleibol Profesional de México (LVP Mx), marking a historic milestone for volleyball in the country and opening a new chapter in the professional development of the sport.
The launch event gathered national team athletes, coaches, club representatives, and distinguished guests from the volleyball community, showcasing the growth, structure, and vision behind this new professional project.
One of the most symbolic moments came during the institutional message from Jesús Perales Navarro, President of the Mexican Volleyball Federation, who emphasized the magnitude of the achievement and the years of work required to turn the project into reality. Quoting Nelson Mandela, he highlighted: “Everything seems impossible until it’s done.”
Perales Navarro reaffirmed that the creation of a professional league in Mexico has been a long-term aspiration for the FMVB, made possible through persistence, collaboration, and a shared commitment to elevating volleyball nationwide. He expressed that the LVP Mx represents not only a sporting breakthrough but also a transformative opportunity for athletes, clubs, and the future of volleyball in the region.
The event featured the presence of key national team athletes, including Jocelyn Urias, captain of the Mexican Women’s Senior National Team, and Josué López, long-time member of the Men’s National Team—both acknowledging this moment as a powerful step toward strengthening pathways for upcoming generations.
Also in attendance was the legendary Regla Torres, triple Olympic champion and one of the most iconic players in volleyball history, who will serve as head coach of Guerreras de Puebla, one of the six franchises competing in the inaugural women’s season. Her involvement adds extraordinary value to the league’s technical and competitive aspirations.
The six women’s teams presented during the event include: Coronelas de Durango, Tapatías Guadalajara, Freseras Voleibol (Irapuato), Leonas Voleibol (León), Gigantes de Aguascalientes and Guerreras de Puebla.
Throughout the ceremony, teams unveiled their visual identities, official uniforms, and competitive vision, accompanied by multimedia presentations showcasing the league’s modern, dynamic approach.
The presentation also revealed the official league trophy, venues, and preliminary competition schedule, underscoring the commitment to expand volleyball’s presence across multiple states in Mexico.
With this successful launch, Mexico officially positions itself within the growing global movement toward stronger professional volleyball structures. The LVP Mx is set to begin its inaugural women’s season on January 17th, 2026. Additionally, the Mexican Volleyball Federation confirmed that the men’s season of the Liga de Voleibol Profesional de México is scheduled for the second half of 2026, further expanding the project to both divisions and strengthening the professional structure of volleyball in the country.
The Mexican Volleyball Federation reiterates its commitment to the development of volleyball within the NORCECA region and to continued collaboration with the FIVB in advancing the sport worldwide.
