Patriotas, Carolina Giants, and Cafeteros Prevail in LVSM Action

NARANJITO, Puerto Rico, November 4, 2025. – Thursday night’s action in the Men’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSM) saw victories for the Patriotas de Lares, Gigantes de Carolina, and Cafeteros de Yauco.

Lares earned three key points to climb into third place in the standings by defeating the Changos de Naranjito 3-1 (25-19, 26-24, 21-25, 26-24) in four sets at the legendary Gelito Ortega.

The Patriotas now stand at 10-6 with 31 points; Naranjito, which failed to score any points, remains in seventh place with a 4-12 record and 15 points.

Up two sets to none, Naranjito made adjustments in reception and, with offensive contributions from its middle blockers, managed to extend the match to a fourth set.

In the fourth set, both teams were neck and neck down the stretch. A block by Jair Santiago gave the Patriotas a slight 21-19 lead; a run by the Changos tied the set at 22, and the score remained even up to 24.

The Patriotas reached set point at 25-24 after Cole Gillis missed an attack from zone four, and they closed the match on the following play with a block against Ángel Rivera.

Lares’ offense was led by Jair Santiago with 18 points, followed by Nick West with 16, Johan León with 15, and both Eric Ramos and Jonathan Rodríguez with 12 each.
For Naranjito, Clarke Godbold was the top scorer with 23 points.

At the Guillermo Angulo Coliseum in Carolina, the Gigantes earned all three points available by sweeping the Mets de Guaynabo 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-13).

The Mets have not won since the night of November 12 and have now accumulated their eighth consecutive loss. Carolina holds a 6-10 record with 20 points, staying in fifth place in the standings, while Guaynabo remains at the bottom (eighth place) with a 2-14 record and 9 points.

Carolina’s double-digit scorers were Giomar Collazo (15), Gabriel Rosado (11), and Geraldo Rivera (10). For the Mets, no player reached double figures; Inovel Romero led with 9 points.

At the Rafael Llull Coliseum in Adjuntas, the Cafeteros de Yauco defeated the home team Gigantes de Adjuntas 3-1 (25-21, 25-15, 20-25, 25-18) in four sets.

Brandon Rattray led Yauco’s offense with 17 points, while William Rivera paced Adjuntas with 16 in the loss.

Yauco remains in second place with a 12-4 record and 32 points. Adjuntas, which earned no points, stays in sixth place, the last postseason berth, with a 5-11 record and 16 points.
