Patriots, Cafeteros, and Gigantes de Carolina Prevail in Sunday’s LVSM Action

Puerto Rico, November 30, 2025.– Sunday’s action in the Men’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSM) closed out the month with three matches that shook up the standings and reaffirmed the league’s competitive intensity.

Lares, Yauco, and Carolina earned important victories, while San Sebastián and Guaynabo were inactive but maintained their respective records.

Lares defends its home court against Corozal

The Patriotas de Lares (9-5, 27 points) defeated the Plataneros de Corozal (10-4, 29 points) 3-1 (23-25, 27-25, 25-20, 29-27) at the Félix Méndez Acevedo Coliseum.

Lares showed offensive depth with five players in double figures: Garrett Muagututia (17), Erick Ramos (15), Jair Santiago (13), Nick West (12), and Roberto Crespo (10).

For Corozal, Jalen Penrose (25) and Spencer Olivier (23) kept the offense alive, but it wasn’t enough to avoid the loss.

Yauco holds strong and defeats Naranjito in five sets

The Cafeteros de Yauco (10-4, 26 points) claimed a dramatic 3-2 victory (25-17, 25-17, 22-25, 21-25, 15-13) over the Changos de Naranjito (3-11, 13 points) at the Raúl “Pipote” Oliveras Coliseum.

Yauco dominated the first two sets, but Naranjito responded with intensity before falling in the decisive set.

Juan Felipe Castañeda led Yauco with 26 points; Sebastián Negrón added 15 points for the Changos.

With this result, Yauco remains in the race for the top positions, while Naranjito sits tied for sixth in points.

Carolina sweeps Adjuntas and gains ground in the standings

The Gigantes de Carolina (5-9, 16 points) earned a 3-0 victory over the Gigantes de Adjuntas (4-10, 13 points) with set scores of 25-15, 25-21, and 26-24. Gabriel Rosado (13 points), Giomar Collazo (12 points), and Geraldo Rivera (11 points) led Carolina’s offense.

William Rivera was the only Adjuntas player in double figures with 13 points. Carolina strengthens its hold on fifth place, while Adjuntas is now tied with Naranjito in cumulative points.

San Sebastián and Guaynabo

The tournament leaders, the Caribes de San Sebastián (13-1, 35 points), did not compete tonight but remain solid at the top. Meanwhile, the Mets de Guaynabo (2-12, 9 points) were also inactive and continue in eighth place.
