JUNCOS, Puerto Rico, January 18, 2026. – Sunday action in the Women’s Volleyball Superior League (LVSF) produced victories for the Pinkin de Corozal and the Criollas de Caguas in a night filled with high intensity.
Corozal controls in four sets
The Pinkin de Corozal defeated the Valencianas de Juncos 3-1 (25-17, 35-37, 25-14, 25-14) at the Rafael G. Amalbert Coliseum, showing poise and consistency in the key moments of the match.
Juncos managed to level the match at one set apiece after withstanding a late Corozal surge in the second set. The Valencianas took a 20-16 lead, but a 5-1 run by the Pinkin tied the score and set the stage for a dramatic finish that extended to 37 points.
Corozal reached set point first (24-22) with a zone-two attack by Jordan Iliff, but Juncos answered with two consecutive points: a Corozal net violation and a block on Daly Santana.
After several ties up to point 35, the Valencianas closed the set with a zone-four attack by Alanis Orama and a service ace from Marcelle Báez.
In the following sets, Corozal regained the level shown in the opener and took control convincingly to secure the three match points.
Corozal led in attacks (55-46) and blocks (11-7), while Juncos topped defense (76-75), receptions (35-30), and assists (20-19).
Corozal’s offensive leaders were Lindsay Krause (21 points), Daly Santana (15), and Jordan Iliff (14). For Juncos, Kelly Sánchez scored 18 points and Naya Gross added 11.
Corozal improves to 1-0 (3 points), while Juncos drops to 0-2 (0 points).
Caguas wins in five sets; historic tie in blocks between Alba and Jetzabel
At the Roger Mendoza Coliseum, the Criollas de Caguas and the Atenienses de Manatí delivered a thrilling five-set battle, with Caguas emerging victorious 3-2 (25-15, 26-28, 27-29, 25-15, 15-12).
In the fifth set, Caguas built a 10-5 lead following a zone-four attack error by Ariana Pagán. Manatí responded with a 7-2 run that included an attack by Karla Santos and a service ace from Pagán.
However, the Criollas closed the match with three straight points: a zone-four attack by Jenaisya Moore and two consecutive blocks by Alexandra Sczech on Santos.
Alba Hernández tied the historic mark set by Jetzabel Del Valle Cruz, finishing the match with 14 of Caguas’ 28 total blocks, compared to 12 by the opponent. The same record was established on March 5, 2000, when Del Valle Cruz played for the Criollas against the Leonas of Ponce. Today, Del Valle Cruz is part of Caguas’ coaching staff, adding a special significance to the achievement.
Caguas’ offensive leaders were Jenaisya Moore with 23 points (20 attacks, 3 blocks), Alexandra Sczech with 20 points (14 attacks, 4 blocks, 2 aces), and Alba Hernández with 16 points (14 blocks, 2 attacks).
For Manatí, Karla Santos led with 28 points, followed by Chareika Carrión with 16 and Shea Rubright with 10.
Caguas adds two points and improves to 2-0 (5 points), while Manatí earns one point in the loss and stands at 1-1 (4 points).
League action continues Wednesday with Criollas de Caguas vs. Leonas de Ponce (Roger Mendoza Coliseum) and Pinkin de Corozal vs. Atenienses de Manatí (Carmen Z. Figueroa Coliseum).
