Guaynabo, Puerto Rico – October 26, 2025 – The Plataneros de Corozal earned their first victory of the season in the Men’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSM), coming from behind in five thrilling sets (3-2) against the Mets de Guaynabo at the Mario “Quijote” Morales Coliseum.
The scores were 22-25, 28-26, 19-25, 28-26, and 15-8.
The Mets, leading 2-1 in sets, could not hold on to an 18-13 advantage in the fourth. Although they reached set point first (24-23), they fell in extra points. The Plataneros then raised their level, starting the decisive tiebreaker strong with leads of 3-0 and 8-4—an advantage Guaynabo could not overcome.
With the victory, Corozal improves to a 1-1 record with 3 points. Meanwhile, the Mets de Guaynabo remain winless after two outings, though they picked up 1 point in the loss, standing at 0-2 with 1 point.
For Corozal, Spencer Olivier led the offense with 25 points, followed by Elian Rivera with 12 and Carlos Berlingeri with 11.
For Guaynabo, Inovel Romero and Gregory Torres tallied 22 points each, while Josué Rivera contributed 17.
The Plataneros outperformed the Mets in attacks (60-59), digs (62-59), receptions (59-57), and assists (35-19). Guaynabo led in blocks (18-12) and service aces (3-2).
Corozal now sits in sixth place in the standings, while Guaynabo drops to seventh.
At the Guillermo Angulo Coliseum in Carolina, the Patriotas de Lares stunned the home team, defeating the Gigantes in straight sets: 25-22, 26-24, 25-22.
Lares earned all three available points and climbed to second place in the standings with a 2-0 record and 5 total points. Carolina, with a 1-1 record and 3 points, dropped to fourth.
Lares’ offense was well-balanced, with Pablo Guzmán scoring 11 points, followed by Jair Santiago and Jonathan Rodríguez with 10 each.
In a losing effort, Félix Chapman stood out for Carolina with an impressive 20 points.
Meanwhile, in Yauco, the Caribes de San Sebastián swept the Cafeteros 3-0 with set scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-20.
San Sebastián moved into first place with a 2-0 record and 6 points. Yauco, now 1-1 with 2 points, sits in fifth in this young season.
Pelegrín Vargas led the winning offense with 11 points, while Brandon Rattray scored 13 for the Cafeteros in the loss.
