Record Night Nets Martyn MLV Player Of The Week

January 20, 2026.- After leading the Ignite to victory in a thrilling match at Columbus on Saturday, Indy middle blocker Lydia Martyn has been named the Major League Volleyball Player of the Week presented by Franklin Sports.

The native of Anderson, S.C. set an MLV record for all matches with 11 blocks in the win over the Fury. As part of that effort, she also matched the league record for blocks in a set with six in the fourth frame. Indy totaled 10 blocks in that set to break the MLV team record.

In the fifth set, Martyn scored three consecutive points on a kill and back-to-back blocks to rally the Ignite from facing a Fury match point and turning it into a 22-20 victory. That fifth set marked the most combined points in league history for set five, plus the most points scored for the winning and the losing team in the final set.

Martyn becomes just the fourth middle blocker in Major League Volleyball history to win a weekly honor as Indy moves to 2-0 this season. She had a season-high 10 kills at Columbus, posting her first career MLV double-double. Martyn also posted a .385 kill percentage in the match.

The Ignite returns to action on Thursday, January 22, traveling to Orlando to face the Valkyries. Fans interested in tickets to the match – or any match in Major League Volleyball – can purchase them via links at the MLV Tickets Central page on the league website.
