GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, August 25, 2023 – The reigning Central American champions Jefferson Cascante and Denis López (NCA1) started the XXI Senior Central American Beach Volleyball Championship on the right foot at Campo Marte in Guatemala City.
The current Central American champions Jefferson Cascante and Denis López from Nicaragua-1, in Group A, triumphed 2-0 (21-14, 21-16) over Edgar Martinez/Fabriel Nuñez from Belize.
Also from Nicaragua, Rubén Mora and Dany López in Group C, first defeated Daniel Dyner/Clifforth Lobo from Costa Rica 2-0 (21-17, 21-19) and number two team of Honduras, Wilfredo Vega/Manuel Serrano, 2-0 (21-13, 21-14).
In the same group, Franklin Flores and Armando Guatemala from El Salvador defeated Hondurans Wilfredo Vega/Manuel Serrano 2-0 (21-8, 21-12). Flores and Guatemala fought hard to control Daniel Dyner/Clifforth Lobo (CRC1) 2-0 (21-11/17-21/15-12).
Also, with a double victory in Group B, Guatemala’s Andy Leonardo and Edgar Maldonado (GUA1) prevailed 2-0 (21-18, 21-17) against twin brothers Yoel and Christopher Guardado of El Salvador-2, and then defeated the number one team from Honduras, Carlos Ramos/Irvin Reyes, 2-0 (21-17, 21-15).
This Saturday, the group stage will continue in the morning. In the afternoon, starting at 2:30 pm, matches will be played to determine the positions for the qualifiers. On Sunday, the games for positions, semifinals, and finals will be played.
