San Sebastián Stays Firm at the Top and Celebrates the Peak Cup Title

SAN SEBASTIÁN, Puerto Rico, December 5, 2025 — In the only match scheduled on Friday night in the Men’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSM), the two-time defending champions, the Caribes de San Sebastián, avenged their only loss of the season to the Plataneros de Corozal with a 3-0 sweep (25-22, 25-19, 25-19) at the Luis Aymat Cardona Coliseum.

With the victory, San Sebastián secured the regular-season series over Corozal, 2-1; additionally, this match determined the champion of the Peak Cup.

Peak is the official ball of the Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation and the official uniform provider for the national teams.

In the team statistics, San Sebastián outperformed Corozal in attacks (39-30), blocks (10-5), aces (6-2), and digs (30-28). Corozal led in receptions (27-26). Both teams finished with 12 assists each.

The offensive standout for the Caribes was Pelegrín Vargas Jr., who ignited the attack with 23 points: 18 kills, 3 blocks, and 2 aces. For Corozal, Jalen Penrose contributed 13 points, 11 kills, 1 block, and 1 ace.

With this result, San Sebastián remains the undisputed leader atop the standings with a 15-1 record and 40 accumulated points. The Plataneros, who did not score tonight, stay at 10-6 with 29 points, holding fourth place.

Quarterfinals Series Format

– The teams finishing in the top six positions of the Regular Season will qualify; the bottom two will be eliminated.

– The teams that finish in the top two positions will receive a bye and advance directly to the semifinals.

– Series A: 3rd place vs. 6th place (home-court advantage for 3rd place).

– Series B: 4th place vs. 5th place (home-court advantage for 4th place).

– Both series will be played in a best-of-five format; the first team to win three advances.
