Two Norceca Beach Volleyball events land in Punta Cana

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, May 30, 2023 – Two NORCECA Beach Volleyball events land in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic running from June 1-9.

The Under-23 NORCECA Tournament will be taking place from June 1 to 5 with 12 countries competing for ranking points as part of the qualification system for age-group international events: Antigua and Barbuda, Bermuda, Canada, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico and Saint Kitts and Nevis.

The Under 23 event is the new beach volleyball circuit that the NORCECA Confederation has created for athletes to earn ranking points for this age-group.

Amos Anglade, member of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Commission said, “we are pleased with this new circuit because each team will be taking their position on their own and not like in the past when the senior ranking was used to distribute teams at a regional, continental and world level”.

NORCECA president Cristobal Marte  Hoffiz and all beach volleyball lovers are enthusiastic about our Confederations new initiative.

In addition to earning ranking points, the circuit will benefit the players to compete in major events with more experience, which in the future contributes to improving the level of competition at the senior beach tour.

The second event from June 6-9 is the qualifying tournament to the Tlaxcala 2023 FIVB World Championship. Thirteen countries have confirmed to compete: Canada, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, United States, U.S. Virgin Islands and Saint Lucia.

The World Championship qualifier event grants 4 slots per gender to be in Tlaxcala from October 6-15.
