Top Talents of the Region on Display at the XV AFECAVOL U19 Women’s Central American Championship

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, November 10, 2025. – The national teams of Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Belize presented their credentials during the preliminary interviews and declared themselves ready for action at the XV AFECAVOL U19 Women’s Central American Championship, to be held from November 11 to 15.

The tournament will showcase the region’s best emerging volleyball talents, who will battle for the coveted title over five days of competition. Two matches per day are scheduled during the group phase.

Defending champion Costa Rica leads Group A, which also includes Guatemala and El Salvador, while Group B is composed of Honduras, Belize, and Nicaragua.

Regarding Costa Rica’s participation, head coach Sandra Umaña said: “We’ve brought a team that has been working together for quite some time. We respect all the teams in this event; we know they have also prepared very well. We’ll take it one match at a time to achieve our goal, which is to win a medal.”

Honduras’ head coach Marvin Ulloa stated: “We expect to have a good tournament since we’re bringing players who have been participating with the senior team, which has helped them gain experience. We have four players who competed in the Central American Games and the Final Four. We hope to reach the podium, as it’s been quite a while since we’ve had good results in this category.”

Nicaragua’s head coach Claudia Noguera said: “We’re bringing a very young team. We know this competition is very important, and we believe we can fight for a spot on the podium. We’ve been training with these girls for a long time, and through the Nicaraguan U19 League, we’ve been able to identify a lot of talent.”

On the challenge of playing at home, El Salvador’s head coach Dany Calderón commented: “Our goal for this event is to finish among the top three. We’ve worked hard for seven to eight months to strengthen this category and build a solid group of players in the country. We’ve trained to reach the podium, and we know the competition will be very even.”

Belize’s assistant coach José Fontes shared: “We’re bringing a very young team to this competition, with players who participated earlier this year in the U15 Codicader Games, along with some who were part of the U15 and U17 categories last year. Our goal for this event is to compete and always strive for the best possible results.”

Finally, Guatemala’s head coach Julio Domínguez said: “Our expectations for this event are to continue improving our performance in these competitions and represent our country with pride. Our team is well-prepared to respond in the best possible way in this important U19 category.”
