United States Claim Double Bronze at Tlaxcala Challenge

TLAXCALA, Mexico, March 22, 2026. – The United States secured bronze medals in both the women’s and men’s competitions at the Tlaxcala Challenge of the 2026 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour.

In the women’s tournament, Sara Hughes and Allysa Batenhorst captured their second consecutive Challenge bronze, following their podium finish at the Bhubaneswar Challenge two weeks ago, marking an impressive run in just three Beach Pro Tour appearances this season.

In an all-American bronze medal match on Sunday, the third-seeded Hughes and Batenhorst defeated 22nd-seeded compatriots Geena Urango and Megan Rice in straight sets, 2-0 (21-15, 21-18).

Batenhorst, 23, led all scorers with an outstanding 24-point performance, including four kill blocks and 20 attack points. Hughes, 31, a Tlaxcala 2023 world champion and Paris 2024 Olympian, added five points. Urango and Rice contributed 17 and 12 points, respectively.

On the men’s side, Timothy Brewster and Logan Webber earned bronze, marking their first medal at the Challenge level and their second overall on the Beach Pro Tour, following gold at the Pompano Futures in 2024.

The American duo rallied from a set down to defeat fourth-seeded Australian Olympians Mark Nicolaidis and Izac Carracher in a thrilling three-set match, 2-1 (20-22, 21-19, 15-11).

Webber, 30, delivered a strong performance at the net with six kill blocks, finishing with a team-high 22 points, while Brewster, 25, added 18 points, all from attacks. Carracher led all scorers with 23 points, including three blocks, while Nicolaidis added 18 points for Australia.
