SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica, November 9, 2025. – Maya Ogbogu of the United States was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2025 NORCECA Girls’ U17 Continental Championship, after leading her team to an impressive gold medal finish without dropping a single set throughout the tournament.
The event took place from November 4 to 9 at the Gimnasio Nacional in San José, Costa Rica.
Ogbogu also earned the First Best Spiker award, highlighting her outstanding all-around performance. Her teammate Lexi Coleman joined her among the best attackers, being recognized as Second Best Spiker, as the U.S. team completed the competition undefeated with a perfect record.

Mexico and the Dominican Republic were also represented among the individual award winners.
Mexico’s Isabella Gallardo was honored as First Best Blocker, while Rosaris Peña of the Dominican Republic took Second Best Blocker. Dominican opposite Rayni Mondesi received the titles of Best Opposite and Best Scorer, proving her consistency and power on offense.
Mexico’s Sofía Rodríguez stood out as the tournament’s Best Setter and Best Server, while Paula Vargas showcased her defensive brilliance by sweeping three categories: Best Libero, Best Receiver, and Best Digger.
The 2025 NORCECA Girls’ U17 Continental Championship brought together the region’s future volleyball stars, with the United States capturing the title and securing their qualification for the 2026 FIVB World Championship.
