Guaynabo, Puerto Rico – October 30, 2025.– The action in the Puerto Rican Men’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSM) saw a Thursday night favorable for visiting teams, as both walked away with victories in their respective matches.
While at the Rafael Llull Coliseum the Patriotas de Lares defeated the Gigantes de Adjuntas in four sets, at the Mario “Quijote” Morales Coliseum in Guaynabo, the Cafeteros de Yauco, with a solid defensive performance and an impenetrable net, swept the home team, the Mets.
Yauco dominated Guaynabo in blocks (11-5), attacks (35-25), digs (28-17), and assists (9-4). They completely neutralized the Mets’ offense, preventing any Guaynabo player from reaching double figures in scoring. Guaynabo held the edge in receptions (39-19).
Both teams finished with five aces each.
Set scores were 25-16, 25-19, and 25-17.
With the win, the Cafeteros claimed all three available points to improve their record to 2-1 and accumulate five points, placing them third in the standings in the second week of the tournament. Guaynabo, meanwhile, dropped to 1-3 with four points, sitting in sixth place.
Brandon Rattray led the Cafeteros with 16 points (11 attacks, 2 blocks, and 3 aces), followed by Axel Meléndez with 14 points. For Guaynabo, Danny Martínez scored 7 points.
In the other match of the night, the Patriotas de Lares defeated the Gigantes de Adjuntas 3-1, with set scores of 25-20, 21-25, 25-22, and 25-18.
With the three points earned, Lares remains undefeated at 3-0 with eight points, just behind the two-time champions Caribes de San Sebastián, who lead with a 3-0 record and nine points.
The Patriotas dominated in blocks (7-5), aces (5-1), receptions (45-37), and assists (32-25). The Gigantes held the advantage in attacks (50-47) and digs (46-40).
Lares’ offense was led by Nick West and Garnett Muagututia with 13 points each, followed by Jair Santiago with 12. For Adjuntas (0-4, one point), Cristian Encarnación stood out with 21 points, and Roberto Pérez added 11.
