Volleyball development in focus during Benin and Côte d’Ivoire National Federations visit

February 28, 2026.- The FIVB this week welcomed the Benin Volleyball Federation President Ali S. Yaro and Côte d’Ivoire Volleyball Federation President Aizan Pascal Whadja to the Volleyball House in Lausanne, Switzerland.

During their visit, they met with FIVB President Fabio Azevedo to discuss key development priorities, including Volleyball Empowerment support. The Benin Volleyball Federation has so far received USD 46,000 through two equipment projects, including 100 Mikasa volleyballs and a Gerflor volleyball court.

Meanwhile, the Côte d’Ivoire Volleyball Federation has benefited from USD 257,000 across 16 projects since 2017, spanning coach support, equipment and knowledge transfer, including an ongoing two-year coaching project for the women’s national volleyball team.

With the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026 now just over a year away, discussions also focused on qualification, with beach volleyball a key part of the sports programme. As the first Olympic event to be hosted in Africa, Dakar 2026 represents a major opportunity to accelerate the development of volleyball across the continent.

The FIVB Strategic Vision 2032, which aims to grow the Global Volleyball Movement from 800 million to 1.6 billion people worldwide, was also highlighted, underlining the importance of continued efforts to make volleyball more accessible, affordable and understandable.
